Our
local Chapter’s very own talented and accomplished
president-elect has achieved yet another distinction; Jane
Moore, Chief Operating Officer for the United Way of Greater
Toledo was awarded the YWCA’s Milestone Award for
outstanding achievement and contribution in Social Services
at the annual luncheon on March 29th.
Jane has
been active in the social services for more than 30 years,
and chief among her achievements is her work with the United
Way, the organization she now leads. She has been a
driving force behind the local United Way’s commitment to
inclusion and diversity by creating diversity committees
which include volunteers from different ethnic and cultural
groups. During her years overseeing the United Way’s
community impact work, Moore has been responsible for staff
and volunteers, allocating more than $170 million to local
programs which benefit families in this community.
Jane
received her BA in Education from the University of Kansas
and her Masters of Public Administration from the University
of Toledo. She has been married to her husband,
Charlie a retired Toledo Police Officer, for 30 years. She
has three stepchildren and four grandchildren.
Established in 1996, the Milestones
Awards honor women from Northwest Ohio for outstanding
leadership qualities who, through their efforts and
accomplishments, have opened doors for other women to
achieve their potential. Candidates are awarded in six
areas: Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Government,
Social Services and Volunteerism. Criteria for selection
include unique, exemplary achievements in her field, serving
as a role model for women in the community, and a life
consistent with the YWCA mission.
