    Ken Frisch Becomes ACFRE

We are very pleased to recognize Ken Frisch, a longtime member of our local chapter since 1993, and who also served as treasurer; for distinguishing himself by earning the Advanced Certified Fundraising Executive Certification (ACFRE), AFP’s highest professional fundraising credential.

Available only to senior-level fundraisers who have worked in the profession for 10 or more years, the ACFRE program is the most rigorous certification process available to professional fundraisers. The certification is an accomplishment achieved by only 80 fundraising professionals since the inception of the program in 1992.

Mr. Frisch is the director of development for Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Before coming to Hospice he served as director of gift planning and director of development for Bowling Green State University.  He has also served as director of development for major gifts at Ohio University and as the grants and communication coordinator for the Southeastern Ohio Voluntary Education Cooperative (SEOVEC).

Active in the community, Mr. Frisch has served on numerous boards including Leave A Legacy Northwest Ohio, Wood County 4-H Committee, the United Way of Athens County, Dairy Barn Cultural Arts Center, Second International King Midget Jamboree, Holy Mischief Makers, National Jigsaw Puzzle Championship, and Tipp City Players.  He was a fellow with the National Endowment for the Arts in 1979.  Mr. Frisch received bachelor’s degrees in Fine Arts and Education from Ohio University in 1971 and 1972 respectively and a master’s degree in Education from Wright State University in 1978 and in Fine Arts from Ohio University in 1979.

The ACFRE Certification Board of AFP, chaired by William Carlton, ACFRE, oversees the ACFRE review process, which includes a comprehensive application detailing achievements in practice, education, publishing, teaching, and service to the profession; a written examination that measures a candidate’s knowledge of fundraising as well as the philosophical, ethical, and social aspects of philanthropy; a portfolio representing the candidate’s body of professional work; and an oral peer review in which the candidate must articulate a mastery of advanced-level knowledge in fundraising management, leadership and ethics.

Mr. Frisch was honored for his achievement during AFP’s 44th International Conference on Fundraising in Dallas, March 2007.
